'New Life'

7th October – 4th November 2008

An exhibition of work by Brazillian Sculptress Renata Barcelos. After a severe flood at her Studio in Spain, which resulted in her losing all her work,Renata began a new phase of her life here in Doncaster.

She loves the freedom sculpting gives her to “freeze” an ephemeral natural phenomena like a drop of water or to capture the fragility of a flower. Above all she wants her work to be tactile, like nature itself.

Rather than admire her work from a distance, Renata wants people to be moved to touch and stroke it,and feel the pleasure of being in contact with the energy that is all around us and to admire what nature built into a stone, over billions of years.

Renata's work has been exhibited and admired throughout the world and is in International collections.

They both paint the same subject matter concentrating on the woodlands and landscape of South Yorkshire but bring their own unique individual style to their paintings. A worthy and interesting exhibition
